Lixil’s GROHE names Stefan Schmied to lead IMEA expansion

GROHE, a plumbing fixtures manufacturing subsidiary of the Lixil Group, has announced the appointment of Stefan Schmied as the Leader for the Middle East, including Turkey and Africa, and India & Subcontinent, effective from April 2024.

In his new role, Stefan brings more than two decades of industry leadership experience. He joined the group in 2019 and has served in leadership roles, including at Lixil EMENA. Previously, he served GROHE as the Vice President of Global Projects until 2022. In other roles, he worked with Franke CEO/President of KWC Group and RAK Ceramics as the President for the Tiles and Sanitary Ware Division. He also served Geberit for more than eight years, including as the Managing Director of South and North East Asia and as Managing Director/Head for the Gulf region.

Sharing the news on LinkedIn, Stefan posted, “I have been appointed Leader of LIXIL IMEA, which entails India, the Middle East, and Africa, a newly formed region within LIXIL International.

A region I have called home for more than 10 years, which is transient, dynamic, and with incredible booms and sometimes terrible busts. An industry I have served for 20 years where you can be part of iconic construction projects as well as affordable housing. And Lixil is a company that has a clear purpose-driven way of working, by creating a better home for everyone, everywhere, but has foremost great leaders, peers, and team members that are professional, driven, fun, and demanding! My IMEA leadership team and I have been trusted to accelerate regional growth, launch new innovations, expand the operational footprint of the GROHE and American Standard brands, drive cross-regional collaboration, and execute strategic initiatives that will further transform our industry.”
