ALEXBANK appoints Paolo Vivona as CEO & MD; Antonio Bergalio as Deputy CEO

Bank of Alexandria, Egypt’s leading private sector bank, announces the appointment of Paolo Vivona as Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director, and Antonio Bergalio as Deputy CEO, effective immediately.

Both Paolo and Antonio also join the Board of Directors as Executive Members. In his new role as CEO and MD, Paolo brings over three decades of leadership experience, having held key roles at international banks known for their successful business models, strategies, and strong organisational cultures.

Most recently, Paolo served Intesa Sanpaolo Bank and its subsidiaries in key positions, including CEO and General Manager of Bank of Romania, Deputy CEO of VUB, Chief Financial Officer of CIB Bank, and Vice President and Head of Risk Management at Bank of Qingdao. He succeeds Dante Campioni, who stepped down in September 2024 after nine years with the bank.

Antonio, meanwhile, brings over three decades of experience in the banking sector. His recent roles at Intesa Sanpaolo Group include Chief Financial Officer & Management Board Member for Privredna Banka Zagreb (Croatia), CFO & Management Board Member for VUB Banka (Slovakia), and CFO for PRAVEX Bank (Ukraine). Earlier in his career, he worked with Deloitte Consulting as Director of the Global Financial Services Industry, and held roles in various government sectors.
