KAFD appoints Abdulelah Al Tayeb as Chief Governance and Risk Officer
King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) has promoted Abdulelah Al Tayeb to the role of Chief Governance and Risk Officer, effective immediately.
In his new role, Abdulelah brings over two decades of leadership experience across cybersecurity, information technology, security, and operational and technological risk management. He joined KAFD in 2020 as Cybersecurity Director and, over the last four years, rose to the key position of Vice President of Cybersecurity.
As CGRO, Abdulelah will be responsible for overseeing KAFD’s governance framework, managing its risk exposure, and ensuring compliance with regulatory, ethical, and risk-related boundaries across all functions of the organisation.
Before joining KAFD, Abdulelah served as Chief Information Security Officer at a confidential organisation, Director of the Operational and Technical Risk Department at Al Rajhi Bank, Director General of Cybersecurity at the Ministry of Education, and Acting Information Security Monitoring Manager at Bank Albilad. Earlier in his information security career, he held key roles at STC and SIDF.
On the academic front, Abdulelah holds an Executive MBA from King Saud University, an MSc in Computer Technology and System Administration from Arab East Colleges, a BSc in IT from Arab Open University, and a bachelor's degree in Computer Technology from Riyadh College of Technology.

He also holds key certifications, including Chief Risk Officer – Executive Education from Carnegie Mellon University, the GRC Executive Programme from the University of Cambridge, and certifications in Data Privacy Solutions Engineering, Information Security Management, Auditing, and Risk and Information Systems Control from ISACA. Additionally, he completed a course in Strategy Execution from INSEAD.
