Goldman Sachs appoints Omar Alzaim as CEO for Saudi Arabia

Goldman Sachs, a leading investment banking and wealth management firm, has announced the appointment of Omar Alzaim as Chief Executive Officer for Saudi Arabia region, effective immediately.  

Omar joined the firm in 2021 as Executive Director and Head of Investment Banking for the KSA region. He succeeds Khalid Albdah, who recently stepped down from the position after 11 years of service. Khalid has joined Neuberger Berman as Head of MENA and New Markets.  

In his new role, Omar brings over 12 years of leadership experience in investment banking. Most recently, he served as Managing Director and Head of Investment Banking - KSA. He has also been serving as Principal of Alma Limited for over six years. Before joining Goldman Sachs, Omar worked at HSBC as Associate Director of Investment Banking Advisory and at Deutsche Bank as a Financial Analyst in Investment Banking. He began his career at Barclays Capital in Saudi Arabia.  

Omar’s academic credentials include a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with Business Management from King’s College London, along with several certifications in Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation from prominent institutions such as Harvard Business School, Stanford Graduate School of Business, and Scalabl Academy. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst, accredited by the CFA Institute.

Omar will be based at the regional headquarters in Riyadh, pending approval from the Ministry of Investment in May 2024. In addition to his new responsibilities, he will continue to lead investment banking for the region.
