Saudia Cargo appoints Eng Loay Mashabi as CEO
Saudia Cargo, a leading global air cargo transportation company, has announced the appointment of Eng. Loay Mashabi as its new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, effective January 1, 2025.
In his new role, Mashabi brings nearly two decades of aviation and logistics leadership experience. He succeeds Teddy Zebitz, who stepped down from the position after over eight years of service to the company. “Teddy has led Saudia Cargo to record success, driving innovation and solidifying its leading position. Zebitz will continue to serve as a member of the Board of Directors,” the company stated.
Mashabi joined the company as a board member in August 2021 and was named Managing Director in October 2023. Prior to this, he worked with the Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services as the Deputy Minister for Logistics Services for nearly three years and with Saudi Customs as the Deputy Governor for Planning and Development for nearly two years. His previous roles include serving as CEO of the inception phase of Al Soudah destination at the Public Investment Fund, General Manager at LogiPoint, General Manager at Petroleum & Energy Logistics and Services Co, and Senior Production Engineer at Saudi Aramco.
Academically, Mashabi holds a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals and an executive MBA from London Business School. He also possesses Petroleum Engineering Certification from the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
The Saudia Cargo Board welcomed him to the leadership role, commenting, “Under Eng. Mashabi’s leadership, Saudia Cargo will focus on accelerating its growth, expanding its international network, and advancing Saudi Vision 2030’s logistics sector goals—enabling the Kingdom's transformation by securing essential goods and providing customer-centric solutions that help businesses thrive and industries grow.”
