Ma'aden appoints Donovan Waller as Chief Technology Officer
Saudi Arabia’s leading mining company, Ma'aden, has appointed Donovan Waller as Chief Technology Officer, effective immediately.
Sharing the appointment update, the company said, “With a career rooted in future-ready operations, Waller’s technical and strategic expertise will help advance Maaden’s efforts to increase output, optimize performance, and reinforce its competitive position globally and locally.”
Welcoming Waller to the leadership role, Bob Wilt, CEO of Ma'aden, said, “Donovan’s appointment is pivotal as we build the mining company of the future. His leadership will accelerate our vision of a technology-forward, industry-leading mining champion that delivers significant value to our shareholders.”
Waller added, “It’s a tremendous honor to join Ma'aden at such a pivotal time. With its vast potential and ambition to lead in both mining and innovation, Ma'aden offers a unique opportunity to build bold new tech and rethink legacy systems that could transform the entire industry.”
In his new role, Waller brings around three decades of technology leadership experience across the mining sector. Most recently, he served at Anglo American Company as Group Head of Technology Development. He worked there for over 17 years, developing remarkable programs including FutureSmart Mining, which uses advanced technologies and responsible practices to deliver economic, environmental, and social benefits.

Prior to that, Waller worked with BHP Billiton, PwC, IBM BCS, and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) South Africa.
