P&O Maritime Logistics CEO Martin Helweg resigns

Martin Helweg, the Chief Executive Officer of DP World-owned maritime transportation unit P&O Maritime Logistics, has stepped down from his position as of July 23, 2024.

Martin, who was appointed CEO in 2020, served the Dubai-based logistics company for nearly eight years. While the reason for his exit is unknown, he announced on LinkedIn, “After some incredible years as CEO at P&O Maritime Logistics, it is time for me to step aside and move towards new opportunities. My time at P&O has been filled with numerous highlights, and I am particularly proud of our team's resilience. Despite the challenges in the world and our industry, we have consistently delivered beyond expectations, surpassing our targets every year without fail.”

Martin also expressed gratitude to CEO of DP World and the leadership team, stating, “I am grateful to Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem and my DP World colleagues for having me on their leadership team. DP World has many achievements. The strong sense of belonging and care is the most impressive and powerful one, especially considering the more than 100,000 employees. I will continue to cheer for P&O Maritime Logistics and DP World. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the 3,500 members of the P&O team and our industry partners. Your support and inspiration have been invaluable to me, and I look forward to staying in touch with you. Martin recently joined as a Member on the Board of the Emirates Shipping Association and is also serving the International Support Vessel Owners Association in the capacity of President. In his previous roles, he worked with SVITZER Americas as the CEO for over 15 years. He possesses nearly two decades of strong leadership experience.

Martin is the second senior executive to exit the group, as Denmark-based Jesper Kristensen, the Group CEO and Global COO of Unifeeder, Marine Services with DP World, recently announced his resignation.
