Awad Al-Omari joins Almana Medical Group as Chief Executive Officer

Saudi Arabia’s Almana Medical Group has appointed Awad Al-Omari as the Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.

Al-Omari shared the news on LinkedIn, “It is with great pride and gratitude that I announce my appointment as the Chief Executive Officer of Al-Mana Medical Group, one of the most established and respected healthcare organisations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. With a legacy spanning over seven decades, the Group currently operates five hospitals and three medical centers across four major cities, with a capacity exceeding 1,300 beds, making it one of the largest private healthcare networks in the region.”

He brings a wealth of medical leadership experience to his new role. He most recently served at Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Group as the Chief Medical Officer for over 12 years, and at Critical Care Company (Rawabt Medical) as the Chief Executive Officer for over five years.

In his other roles, Al-Omari serves as Chairman of the Board at the Saudi Critical Care Society, Professor of Medicine at Alfaisal University, and board member of the Saudi Federation of Sports Medicine. He began his career at the Security Forces Hospital in Riyadh.

Outlining his new responsibilities as CEO, he said, “This new chapter marks the beginning of a transformative journey for the Group – one centered around four strategic priorities:

  1. Expanding into new regions across the Kingdom, ensuring broader access to high-quality care.
  2. Launching specialized and integrated care models that are patient-centered and outcome-driven.

  4. Elevating patient experience and improving the quality and effectiveness of care through clinical excellence and empowered healthcare teams.”

Al-Omari holds several notable accolades, including the Ada’a Health Award 2024 by the KSA Ministry of Health, the National Patient Safety Award 2024 by the Saudi Patient Safety Center, the Guinness World Record for the Largest Tele-ICU (2019), and the Second National Patient Safety Award (2019) by the Saudi Patient Safety Center.

During his tenure at Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Group, he played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Academy, the Rapid Response Team, Tele-ICU technology and standardization of care, Tele-Stroke Program, Tele-Cardiology Program, ECMO Program, and the first medical journal for the private healthcare sector in the Middle East.

On the academic front, he holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from King AbdulAziz University, an Executive MBA from Alliance Manchester Business School, and has completed the Senior Executive Leadership Program at Harvard Business School. He also completed a fellowship in Critical Care and Infectious Diseases at the University of Ottawa.
