Chemanol appoints Awadh Alwaridah as new Chief Executive Officer
Methanol Chemicals Company (Chemanol) has appointed Awadh Fahad Al-Waridah as the new Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.
Following the departure of former CEO Sabri Al-Ghamdi in May, the company appointed Engineer Fares Ahmed Al-Abbad as Acting CEO to handle responsibilities in the interim.
Al-Abbad, who had been serving as the Executive Vice President of Manufacturing before his Acting CEO assignment, will return to his previous responsibilities.
The company stated in an exchange filing, “Methanol Chemicals Company (Chemanol) announces that its Board of Directors has decided to end the mandate period of Eng. Fares Ahmed Al-Abbad as Acting CEO, effective Monday, July 14, 2025. Eng. Al-Abbad will resume his role as Vice President of Manufacturing… The Board expresses its sincere thanks and appreciation to Eng. Fares Al-Abbad for his efforts and valuable contributions during the past period.”
Adding, “The Board has appointed Eng. Awadh Fahad Al-Waridah as the new CEO, effective Tuesday, July 15, 2025.”
Extending wishes to the new CEO, it stated, “The Board also welcomes Eng. Awadh Al-Waridah in his new position, wishing him all the best and success in leading the Company towards a prosperous future.”
Al-Waridah brings over 25 years of leadership experience to his new role. Before this appointment, he served at SABIC as the General Manager for the SABIC Transformation and Renovation (STAR) project. Prior to this, he held key positions including GM of Technology Licensing, Investment Director, and strategic business roles.

“In addition, he has served as a member of boards of directors of affiliated companies and chaired various committees within them, both inside and outside the Kingdom,” the company added.
