ICIEC appoints Dr. Khalid Khalafalla as CEO; Oussama Kaissi exits

Dr. Khalid Khalafalla has been named as the Chief Executive Officer of the Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC), with immediate effect. 

Dr Khalid's appointment was approved by the company board of directors during the 121st meeting. 

Joining in the new role, Dr. Khalid brings over two decades of leadership experience across the banking, finance and insurance sector of KSA. He most recently held the role of Technical Advisor, Officer of the President at Islamic Development Bank (IsDB). Currently, he also serves ICIEC as the Officer-in-Charge since May 2024, while also serving as Principal Executive Assistant at IsDB President’s Office. This is not the first time Dr Khalid joins ICIEC, as he previously served the company in various roles for nearly a decade. 

He succeeds Oussama Abdel Rahman Kaissi, who has recently stepped down from the position. Oussama served ICIEC for more than eight years, and now serves as a founder and CEO of a risk and management consulting firm – The Meridiem Group. 

Dr Khalid’s academic background is very impressive, which includes an MBA from Henley Business School, a master’s degree in Economics from Universiti Putra Malaysia, a bachelor’s degree in Economics from University of Khartoum, and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Bonn. He also completed a postgraduate certificate in Mechanics of Project Finance from Middlesex University, an Executive Education in Personal Leadership from Columbia Business School, and a certificate in CLARITAS Investment from CFA Institute. 

Extending wishes to Dr Khalid, the chairman of the company board of directors said, “Congratulations Dr. Khalafalla on his appointment.
