Minor Hotels appoints Ahmad Al Salem as Cluster Director of People & Culture - Shared Services

Minor Hotels, a global hospitality leader, has appointed Ahmad Al Salem as Cluster Director of People & Culture - Shared Services, effective immediately.

In his new role, Ahmad brings over 17 years of HR leadership experience across the hospitality, food & beverage, and academic sectors. Announcing the news on LinkedIn, he posted: “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Cluster Director of People & Culture - Shared Services at Minor Hotels.” 

As a Cluster Director of People & Culture, Ahmed will be overseeing HR and people functions for all the Minor Hotels in Doha, including Anantara Hotels & Resorts, Tivoli Hotels & Resorts, and Oaks Hotels, Resorts & Suites. He will be reshaping the HR function encompassing recruitment, payroll & benefits, engagement, employee relations, talent management, as well as, HR technology and analytics for improving processes. In his own words, he believes in “championing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion initiatives, dedicated to cultivating the most exceptional talents and fostering culture of growth, care and wellbeing.”

Before this appointment, Ahmed worked with IHG Hotels & Resorts as the Director of People & Culture, for over two years. He shared the news of his exit from IHG stating, “I bid farewell to my incredible People & Culture team at Abesq Doha Hotel & Residences, an IHG Hotel – and the entire hotel family. It has been an extraordinary two years filled with adventures, growth, and unforgettable memories.” He also extended appreciation to his people and culture team and IHG’s leadership. He added, “As I step into the next chapter of my career, I leave with a heart full of gratitude and countless memories. Abesq Doha Hotel & Residences, an IHG Hotel and IHG Hotels & Resorts have been more than just a workplace; they have been a home. To everyone I have worked with, thank you for making these two years so meaningful and impactful. Until our paths cross again, I wish you all continued success, growth, and happiness.” This was Ahmed’s second stint with IHG, as he previously served from 2011 to 2016, in key roles.

In his other roles, Ahmad worked with Grand Hyatt Amman as Director of Human Resources, The Coca-Cola Company in HR Recruitment & Development, and Emirates College of Technology as an HR Officer. He initially began his HR journey with Yarmouk University.

On the academic front, Ahmed holds a bachelor of science in MIS from (Yarmouk University) Jami’at Al Yarmouk and a certificate in Professional in Human Resources International from BDC. He brings strong competencies including, talent attraction and retention, employee relations, HRIS, recruitment, HR transformation, DEI, culture wellness, HR policies, workforce planning, and employee engagement.
