The Sharjah Digital Department (SDD) has launched the second cohort of its Data and AI Mastery Programme as the emirate steps up efforts to build a government workforce equipped for a data- and AI-driven future.
The programme forms part of the Sharjah Digital Transformation Strategy 2026–2028 and aims to strengthen the digital capabilities of government employees.
The latest cohort brings together 40 employees from 25 government entities across Sharjah. Running from late August through November 2026, the programme combines theoretical learning with practical applications covering data, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
The initiative is designed to help government employees use data and AI to support decision-making, improve operational efficiency and develop more proactive and human-centred public services.
Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director General of SDD, said data and AI are becoming essential tools for governments to understand public needs, anticipate challenges and make more effective decisions.
“In Sharjah, we want this transformation to translate into tangible impact on government performance, the quality of services, and the lives of people and the wider community,” he said.
He added that building future-ready government capabilities requires investment in people and the development of employees who can apply new technologies effectively in their work.
The programme goes beyond technical training, with a focus on helping participants turn knowledge into practical solutions, improve decision-making and develop new approaches across government entities.
“Our aim is to develop talent capable of turning knowledge into practical application; to make better decisions, develop new solutions, and create meaningful impact across government entities, individuals and the wider community,” Al Qasimi said.
The second cohort builds on SDD’s broader focus on workforce capability as a foundation for sustainable digital transformation. The department said developing government talent will be critical to ensuring that emerging technologies are adopted effectively and responsibly.
The programme also supports Sharjah’s wider efforts to create an integrated digital government ecosystem, with data governance, cybersecurity and innovation forming key elements of its digital transformation agenda.
