ADPF records 41% boost in Emirati women participation

The Abu Dhabi Pension Fund has recorded a 41 per cent increase in the registration of Emirati women from both public and private sectors as its members.

On Emirati Women’s Day 2024, the Fund announced that 61,408 Emirati women are now insured, making up 52 per cent of all insured citizens in the Emirate, a huge increase from just 11 per cent two decades ago.

The additional data reveals that as of June 2024:

Salem Al Noaimi, Managing Director at Abu Dhabi Pension Fund underlined, “Emirati women have made their mark across a wide array of sectors, including healthcare, social services, education, finance, insurance, and information technology. This diverse participation indicates that Emirati women have become key contributors to the growth and development of Abu Dhabi in all sectors. The unwavering support from the UAE's wise leadership is a testament to the vital role women play in the nation’s future."

Similarly, in celebration of Emirati Women’s Day, the General Pension and Social Security Authority (GPSSA) announced that Emirati women now make up 66.7 per cent of the Emirati contributors registered with the authority. This achievement highlights the growing presence of women in the workforce, especially in federal, government, and private sectors.

It stated that since the UAE Federal Law No. (7) of 1999 and the more recent Federal Law No. (57) of 2023 have introduced various provisions to further reinforce and support the role of Emirati women in society, it offers women distinct advantages in pension schemes, such as extended service years, increased pension shares, and specific provisions for mothers, widows, and those caring for children.

These developments highlight the UAE's steadfast dedication to empowering Emirati women, ensuring their contributions are recognised, and providing them with the legal and social support necessary to thrive in all aspects of life.
