Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) has welcomed more than 188 women into its workforce since Emirati Women’s Day 2025, including 79 UAE nationals, as the company expands opportunities for women across industrial, technical, leadership and corporate roles.
EGA now employs 833 women in the UAE, of whom 462 are Emirati. More than 408 women hold operational positions, with UAE nationals accounting for more than 44% of women working in operations.
The company said its efforts are aligned with the UAE’s drive to increase women’s participation in the industrial sector and strengthen the pipeline of female talent across traditionally male-dominated roles.
“Emirati Women’s Day is an opportunity to recognise the remarkable contribution of Emirati women to EGA, our industry, and the nation,” said Abdulnasser bin Kalban, CEO of EGA.
“We are proud of the progress we have made in gender diversity at EGA, particularly in operational and technical roles.”
EGA also aims to address barriers to women’s participation beyond its own workforce through its Challenger Programme, launched in 2023 with leading industrial companies in the UAE.
The initiative brings participating companies together to develop practical measures to support inclusive workplace cultures, women’s career development and retention. It has also produced shared resources and tools to help industrial employers adopt practices that support greater gender diversity.
EGA opened its long-running National Training programmes for front-line industrial roles to women for the first time in 2022.
Women represented around 20% of new joiners to the programmes the following year, with the proportion rising to more than 40% by 2025.
“Our ambition is not only to increase participation but also to ensure women have the support, development opportunities, and environment they deserve to succeed and thrive,” Kalban said.
EGA is a signatory to the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles and said it will continue to focus on attracting, developing and supporting female talent as part of efforts to build a more diverse industrial workforce in the UAE.
