The UAE has confirmed a five-day Eid Al Adha holiday for federal government employees, with ministries and public sector entities set to remain closed from May 25 to May 29, 2026.
According to the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR), official working hours across federal entities will resume on Monday, June 1.

The announcement, shared through the UAE Government Media Office, stated that the holiday applies to all employees working in federal government institutions across the country.
Separately, the Sharjah Department of Human Resources (SDHR) also confirmed the Eid Al Adha and Arafat Day holiday schedule for government employees in the emirate, aligning with the federal holiday framework and ensuring a unified break across public sector entities.
The extended holiday period is expected to support travel plans, family gatherings, and leisure activities as residents prepare for one of the most significant occasions in the Islamic calendar.
The announcement also aligns with decisions taken by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), which confirmed matching Eid break dates for private schools in Dubai. Schools will remain closed from May 25 to May 29, with classes scheduled to resume on June 1.
With weekends combined, many students, teachers, and government employees are expected to benefit from an extended nine-day break.
The Eid holiday framework also reflects the UAE’s broader efforts to standardise public sector holidays and align academic calendars across the country.
