Kuwait is moving ahead with plans to increase the employment of Kuwaiti nationals in supervisory roles within the cooperative sector, with 200 shortlisted candidates set to undergo personal interviews for 90 available positions.
The Ministry of Social Affairs said the interviews will be held on September 23 and 24 for candidates seeking financial controller and administrative controller positions in cooperative societies. The recruitment drive includes 30 financial controller posts and 60 administrative controller posts, following the allocation of the required budgetary positions in coordination with the Civil Service Commission.
Of the 200 candidates shortlisted after written examinations, 55 qualified for the financial controller positions, while 145 are competing for administrative controller roles. The interviews will take place from 10 am to 2 pm at the Undersecretary’s meeting room, with candidates receiving their individual interview schedules by email.
The selection committee will be chaired by Ministry Undersecretary Dr Khaled Al-Ajmi and include specialists from the cooperative sector. The ministry said candidates will be assessed against unified and objective standards, with the personal interview accounting for 10% of the final evaluation and the written examination carrying 85% or more of the overall assessment.
The ministry will also audiovisually record the interviews as part of measures to promote transparency, integrity and equal opportunities throughout the recruitment process. Final results will be published on the Ministry of Social Affairs’ official website and social media channels.
The recruitment drive is part of Kuwait’s broader Kuwaitization efforts to increase the participation of Kuwaiti nationals in targeted positions and reduce reliance on expatriate workers. The ministry said the initiative aims to place qualified Kuwaitis in financial and administrative oversight roles while strengthening operational efficiency and supervision across the cooperative sector.
The move follows directives from Kuwait’s political leadership and Cabinet, along with recommendations from Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs Dr Amthal Al-Huwailah, to accelerate the Kuwaitization of targeted roles and provide qualified Kuwaiti nationals with greater employment opportunities.
