Kuwait’s cooperative societies have begun the Kuwaitisation of branch supply manager positions, with eligible Kuwaiti nationals set to take up the roles under a directive from the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Union of Cooperative Societies.
According to sources cited by local reports, the two bodies have directed cooperative societies to complete the Kuwaitisation of supply branch manager positions within 30 days.
Applicants must be Kuwaiti nationals with a diploma in a relevant field, such as accounting or business administration, and at least five years of professional experience. Candidates are also required to submit a criminal record clearance through the Sahel application.
The basic monthly salary for the branch supply manager position is expected to range between KD400 and KD500, in addition to the subsidy provided for national employment in the private sector, as well as applicable allowances and incentives.
Cooperative societies will receive applications and select candidates before submitting the names to the Control Department at the Ministry of Social Affairs. The department will verify whether candidates meet the required conditions before appointments are finalised.
If no qualified Kuwaiti candidate is available, a Kuwaiti employee will be temporarily assigned to carry out the responsibilities of the position, according to the sources.
The appointment of supply branch officials will also be exempt from the 6% allocation designated for employee sales and expenses and will not require approval from the Kuwaitisation Committee.
The move forms part of Kuwait’s wider efforts to increase the employment of nationals in the private sector and strengthen the participation of Kuwaiti workers in supervisory and managerial positions.
