Saudi German Hospitals Group has promoted Afaf Al-Shammri to Regional HR Director, marking the next step in her decade-long career with Saudi German Health.
Al-Shammri announced the appointment on LinkedIn, sharing her move into the regional role with the hospital group.
Abdullah Alzahrani, who was recently elevated to Group HR Executive Director at Saudi German Hospitals Group, also extended wishes to Al-Shammri, writing, “So proud of you and proud to work with you. You’ve deserved this.”
Al-Shammri has been with Saudi German Health for around 10 years, having joined the organisation as a Training Specialist in 2016. She subsequently held roles including Human Resources Operations Specialist and Human Resources Manager before taking on her latest position.
As Human Resources Manager, Al-Shammri was responsible for overseeing HR functions and implementing people management strategies and processes. Her remit included recruitment, employee engagement, workforce planning, compensation and rewards, learning and development, HR systems and budgets.
She also oversaw HR department operations and performance management, while ensuring alignment with Saudi German Health policies and requirements of the Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI). Her responsibilities included representing the HR function during CBAHI surveys.
Before joining Saudi German Health, Al-Shammri spent more than three years with Saudi Arabia’s Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, where she held HR Business Partner and Training Specialist roles.
Al-Shammri holds a master’s degree in Hospital and Health Service Management from the University of Hail, along with a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems from the same university. She has also completed human resources qualifications through AIHR and Avado and holds CIPD, SHRM and ACHRM credentials.
In her professional profile, Al-Shammri describes her HR approach as focused on employee engagement, satisfaction, compliance and team development. Her experience includes performance management, employee recognition, professional development and workforce initiatives aimed at improving retention and productivity.
Her elevation to Regional HR Director comes as healthcare organisations across Saudi Arabia continue to navigate workforce development, localisation, compliance and changing talent requirements as part of the Kingdom’s broader healthcare transformation agenda.
