Peiser will lead Aon’s Risk Capital business across commercial risk and reinsurance as the firm sharpens its focus on capital efficiency and analytics-led solutions.

Aon has appointed Joe Peiser as Chief Executive Officer of its Risk Capital business, expanding his remit as the firm doubles down on connecting risk advisory with capital solutions.

The Dublin-headquartered professional services firm announced the move in a statement on Wednesday, saying Peiser will oversee Risk Capital capabilities spanning Commercial Risk and Reinsurance Solutions. He will continue to report to Andy Marcell, CEO of Global Solutions at Aon. A search is under way for a new CEO of Commercial Risk, the company said.

The appointment consolidates leadership across one of Aon’s core growth engines at a time when clients face heightened volatility, rising catastrophe losses and tighter capital markets. Risk Capital combines insurance broking, reinsurance placement and alternative capital advisory under a unified structure.

Marcell said the division is central to helping clients navigate an increasingly complex risk landscape. “Joe’s deep industry experience and the trust he has built globally make him a natural fit for the role,” he said in the company statement, adding that the move supports Aon’s “Aon United” strategy of integrating capabilities across business lines.

Peiser brings more than three decades of experience across broking, consulting and executive leadership roles in North America, the UK and Bermuda. He joined Aon in 2021 as Commercial Risk Leader for North America and was appointed Global CEO of Commercial Risk in 2023. During his tenure, he led transformation initiatives aimed at modernising broking platforms and embedding analytics into client advisory work.

In his expanded role, Peiser will work with regional and solution-line leaders, as well as Aon Business Services, to accelerate delivery of end-to-end risk and capital solutions. The firm said its Risk Capital strategy centres on capital distribution across traditional and alternative markets, advanced modelling to optimise total cost of risk, advisory expansion in structuring and capital management, and innovation in digital trading and new risk-transfer instruments.

Peiser said organisations are confronting unprecedented complexity and require integrated access to expertise and capital. “Aon’s ability to connect analytics with diverse pools of capital is a key differentiator,” he said.

The leadership change comes as global insurers and brokers recalibrate strategies amid climate-related losses, geopolitical tensions and regulatory shifts that are reshaping capital flows.

With Risk Capital now under unified oversight, Aon appears intent on tightening execution and scaling analytics-driven offerings — betting that demand for structured, capital-efficient risk solutions will intensify in an unsettled market.
