
ArabSat appoints Badr Alsuwaidan as President and CEO
The Arab Satellite Communications Organization has appointed Dr. Badr Alsuwaidan as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.
Announcing the appointment, Arabsat said, “A New Chapter Begins – Arabsat welcomes Dr. Badr Alsuwaidan as its new President and CEO. With decades of experience in the space industry, Dr. Badr is set to lead Arabsat through a period of transformation, growth, and global expansion.”
Dr. Alsuwaidan added, “I am honoured to be entrusted by the Board of Directors with the leadership of Arabsat during a time of dynamic transformation in our industry. The pace of progress and the emergence of new players present exciting opportunities.
I look forward to working with our talented team to deliver exceptional value to our customers and lead Arabsat into its next chapter of growth.”
In his new role, Dr. Alsuwaidan brings over 25 years of leadership experience across the defense, space manufacturing, research, and telecommunications sectors. He joined Arabsat in 2020 as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, later serving as Acting CEO and Senior Vice President.

Before joining Arabsat, he spent nearly two decades as a researcher at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and briefly served as a consultant to the Saudi Space Commission.
On the academic front, Dr. Alsuwaidan holds a PhD in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Space Engineering from the University at Buffalo.
