FedEx elevates Rumana Rahman to lead HR across APAC and MEISA

Rahman will be responsible for shaping and executing FedEx’s people strategy across the region, with a focus on building high-performing teams, strengthening workforce capabilities, and enhancing employee wellbeing.
FedEx has appointed Rumana Rahman as Vice President of Human Resources for Asia Pacific and the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and Africa (MEISA), effective immediately, expanding her leadership responsibilities across some of the company’s most dynamic and diverse markets.
In her new role, Rahman will be responsible for shaping and executing FedEx’s people strategy across the region, with a focus on building high-performing teams, strengthening workforce capabilities, and enhancing employee wellbeing.
Rahman joined FedEx last year and brings more than 25 years of HR leadership experience spanning Asia Pacific and the Middle East. Throughout her career, she has led large-scale talent, culture, inclusion, and workforce transformation initiatives across multiple geographies.
Before joining FedEx, Rahman spent nearly 25 years at British American Tobacco, where she held several senior HR leadership positions including as the Regional Head of HR for APAC and the Middle East, overseeing people strategies across a diverse regional footprint. She also held the role of Regional Head of Talent, Culture and Inclusion for Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa, based in Singapore, where she led efforts to strengthen organisational culture, leadership development, and diversity initiatives.
Earlier in her career, Rahman served as Head of HR in Bangladesh and held regional HR planning and reporting responsibilities in Hong Kong, alongside a range of roles spanning talent management, compensation and benefits, and HR business partnering.
At FedEx, Rahman is expected to focus on cultivating a high-performance culture while ensuring the organisation remains people-centric.
In a recent exclusive conversation with People Matters, Rahman highlighted the importance of combining strong business acumen with a people-first mindset, particularly as artificial intelligence, geopolitical uncertainty, and changing employee expectations continue to reshape the world of work.
Beyond her corporate leadership experience, Rahman has also invested in executive development and leadership coaching. She completed The Mastered Program in Executive and Leadership Coaching at Meyler Campbell in 2024, participated in the Women in Leadership programme at INSEAD in 2018, and holds a BBA degree from Institute of Business Administration Dhaka.
