Governata appoints Mohamed Hamedi as Chief Technology Officer

Hamedi will lead technology strategy, platform architecture, and product innovation, focusing on building a secure, scalable, and AI-ready data governance infrastructure aligned with Saudi Arabia’s vision.
Governata, Saudi Arabia’s first enterprise data governance platform, has appointed Mohamed Hamedi as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO), reinforcing the company’s leadership as it scales AI-ready data infrastructure, across the region.
The appointment comes on the heels of Governata’s $4 million seed funding round, supported by a mix of regional and international investors including Joa Capital, abtal.vc, Sanabil Accelerator by 500 Global, Sadu Capital, Plus VC, Hyperscope Ventures, A-Typical Ventures, and Plug and Play.
The funding will accelerate development of Governata’s enterprise-grade data governance platform, designed to navigate an increasingly regulated, operational, and AI-driven environment in line with Saudi Arabia’s national data frameworks.
Hamedi brings over 30 years of global technology leadership, with experience spanning Silicon Valley, Europe, and the Middle East. A seasoned founder and operator, he has built, scaled, and exited multiple technology companies in enterprise software, cloud platforms, fintech, and networking infrastructure.
His previous roles include senior technology positions at leading regional scale-ups, founding high-growth ventures such as Grubtech, and serving as CTO of Mrsool, the Riyadh-based on-demand delivery platform backed by Saudi Technology Ventures. He has also been Associate Director at Middle East Venture Partners (MEVP), one of the region’s largest venture capital firms.
At Governata, Hamedi will lead technology strategy, platform architecture, and product innovation, focusing on building a secure, scalable, and AI-ready data governance infrastructure aligned with Saudi Arabia’s NDMO, PDPL, and Vision 2030 priorities.
“Governata is tackling one of the most critical challenges for organizations today: turning complex, regulated data into a strategic asset,” said Hamedi. “The opportunity to create a category-defining data governance platform from Saudi Arabia, with global ambition, is incredibly exciting. I look forward to shaping the technology foundation that will power this vision.”
Djamel Mohand, CEO of Governata, added: “Mohamed’s track record speaks for itself. He has successfully built and exited companies, scaled complex platforms, and understands both global best practices and regional realities. His appointment is a decisive step in Governata’s journey to become the reference data governance platform in the Kingdom and beyond.”
