Oman Housing Bank appoints Raid Al Lawati as CTO

Oman Housing Bank has appointed Raid Mohamed Backer Al-Lawati as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), adding a technology leader with more than two decades of experience across banking, digital transformation and IT.

Al-Lawati announced the appointment on LinkedIn, saying he was honoured to take on the role and would continue the bank’s technology transformation journey, with a focus on innovation, resilience and business value.

He has been with Oman Housing Bank for nearly four years, joining as Assistant General Manager – Head of IT & Digital in 2024. He was then appointed AGM – Head of Technology & PMO, before taking on the CTO role in September 2026.

At the bank, his responsibilities have included technology and digital transformation, as well as project and programme management. His career progression at Oman Housing Bank reflects an increasing focus on technology leadership and the bank’s digital agenda.

Before joining Oman Housing Bank, Al-Lawati spent more than four years at ahlibank, where he served as Deputy Head of the Digital Transformation Department and previously as Head of System Development & Application Management.

His earlier career includes more than three years at Microsoft as Senior Service Delivery Manager for Bahrain and Oman. He also held technology and programme management roles at Bank Dhofar, the Information Technology Authority of Oman and Bank Muscat.

At the Information Technology Authority, he worked on strategic planning, portfolio and programme management and contributed to Oman’s e-Government Transformation Programme. His experience also includes IT infrastructure, disaster recovery, business continuity, application development and systems management.

Al-Lawati began his career in technology in Oman, holding roles at Oman International Bank and Oman Air, where he worked on enterprise applications and systems development.

He holds an MSc in Information Technology (Software Systems) from Heriot-Watt University and a BSc in Information Systems from Sultan Qaboos University. He also holds professional certifications in project management and IT service management.

In his new role, Al-Lawati is expected to build on his previous work in IT and digital transformation as Oman Housing Bank continues its technology transformation agenda.
