Wael Albassam appointed CEO of Saleh & Abdulaziz Abahsain Company

Albassam brings extensive experience in executive leadership, HR, governance, risk, compliance, and digital transformation, having held senior HR roles at Bank Aljazira, government entities, and BAE Systems.

Saudi Arabia-based Saleh & Abdulaziz Abahsain Company has announced the appointment of Wael Albassam as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking a significant leadership move as the company looks to advance its next phase of institutional transformation and long-term growth.


Albassam, brings extensive experience across executive leadership, HR, shared services, governance, risk management, compliance, and digital transformation. 


Over the course of his career, he has held several senior leadership roles, including Group Vice President of Human Resources at Bank Aljazira, as well as Vice President of HR and Shared Services and Executive HR Director within government entities. He has also served as a senior advisor to a government minister and acted as an interim executive team leader at BAE Systems.


Commenting on his appointment, Albassam said, “I’m pleased to announce that I have recently joined Saleh & Abdulaziz Abahsain Co. as Chief Executive Officer. I look forward to leading the next phase of institutional transformation, strengthening governance, and building an operating model that drives sustainable growth and long-term value creation.”


He added, “I would like to thank the Board of Directors for their trust, and I look forward to working closely with them and the team to achieve the company’s strategic objectives.”


Beyond his executive roles, Albassam is actively involved in board and committee memberships. He currently serves as a Board Member and Chairman of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee at the Saudi Paper Group, and is a member of the HR Committee at the Eastern Province Chamber in Dammam. He is also affiliated with the Association for Human Resource Management.


Albassam holds an MBA in Management and Human Resources from the University College of Bahrain, along with a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University. He has further strengthened his credentials through executive education and certifications from globally recognised institutions, including London Business School, INSEAD, and IMD Business School, as well as governance certification from the GCC Board Directors Institute.
