Al Etihad Insurance CEO Hossam Al-Kannas resigns after a decade of service

Al Kannas assumed the CEO role in 2016, and played a pivotal role in driving growth and expansion, establishing the firm as a prominent player in the Saudi insurance sector.
Al Etihad Cooperative Insurance Company announced that Hossam bin Abdulaziz Al-Kannas, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, has resigned for personal reasons.
The decision, approved by the Board of Directors on 29 March 2026, will take effect on Wednesday, 1 April 2026.
The Board expressed its gratitude to Al-Kannas for his leadership and contributions, wishing him success in his future endeavors. The company confirmed that it will provide updates regarding the appointment of a new CEO in due course.
Al-Kannas joined Al Etihad Insurance in 2015 as Chief Operating Officer and assumed the CEO role in 2016. Over more than a decade at the company, he played a pivotal role in driving growth and expansion, establishing the firm as a prominent player in the Saudi insurance sector.
Before joining Al Etihad, Al-Kannas held key positions at the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) and served as Financial & Investment Marketing Officer at Al Barakah Investment and Development Company.
On the academic front, Al-Kannas holds an MBA from the University of Southampton, a BBA from King Saud University, and an Advanced Diploma in Insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute, UK.
