OQ Exploration & Production appoints new CFO and COO; New CEO for OQ Alternative Energy

The appointments bring leadership experience across finance, operations, project delivery and energy management as OQEP and OQAE advance their respective business and energy transition priorities.

OQ Exploration & Production SAOG (OQEP) has appointed Khalid Nassir Al Qassabi as chief financial officer and Jamal Humaid Al Naamani as chief operating officer, while OQ Alternative Energy (OQAE) has named Salim Al Kamyani as its new chief executive officer.


Announcing the appointments, OQEP said, “The Board of Directors of OQ Exploration and Production SAOG is pleased to announce the appointment of Khalid Nassir Al Qassabi as Chief Financial Officer and Jamal Humaid Al Naamani as Chief Operating Officer.”


“Khalid and Jamal bring extensive leadership experience across finance, operations, and the energy sector. Their expertise will strengthen operational excellence, support sustainable growth, and create long-term value in line with the company’s growth strategy,” the company added.


“The Board extends its sincere congratulations and wishes them every success as they lead their respective functions in advancing OQEP’s long-term strategic ambitions.”



Al Qassabi brings more than 19 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He previously served as vice president of finance at OQEP, where he was responsible for financial planning and analysis, accounting, treasury, tax and investor relations. He has also been leading the company’s refinancing facility.


Before joining OQEP, Al Qassabi held leadership positions across the oil and gas industry, including with OQ Gas Networks, OQ, Falcon Oilfield Services, Occidental Petroleum and SLB. His experience covers financial management and control, business strategy, risk assessment, financial modelling, budgeting, operational control and material management.


Al Qassabi holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from the University of Leeds.



Al Naamani has more than 31 years of local and international experience across the upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas sectors. He joined OQEP’s leadership team as chief operating officer after serving as vice president of projects delivery from January 2023 to July 2026.


In that role, he managed OQEP’s project delivery portfolio supporting oil and gas production in Block 60 and Musandam assets, alongside exploration initiatives in Blocks 48 and 60. His responsibilities included budgeting, planning, risk management, project management, HSSE, stakeholder management and the handover of facilities to asset owners.


Earlier, Al Naamani held senior project management positions at OQ, Duqm Refinery and Petroleum Development Oman, working across major infrastructure, power, petrochemical, terminal and enhanced oil recovery projects in Oman and overseas.


He is also an ICF-certified professional coach, with experience supporting individuals and teams through transformation and performance improvement.


Separately, OQ Exploration & Production announced Al Kamyani’s appointment as CEO of OQ Alternative Energy.


“OQ Exploration & Production extends its sincere congratulations to Salim Al Kamyani on his appointment as Chief Executive Officer of OQ Alternative Energy (OQAE),” the company said.


“We wish him every success in leading OQAE through its next phase of growth, advancing renewable energy solutions, and contributing to the realization of Oman’s energy transition and long-term value creation for the OQ Group and the Sultanate,” it added.



Al Kamyani previously served as CEO of Nama for Electricity Supply from June 2023. Before that, he was CEO of Mazoon Electricity Company from 2019 to 2023, having earlier held roles including chief operations officer for electricity supply and senior manager for commercial affairs.


He began his career in finance and commercial roles and holds an MBA from the University of Strathclyde and a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting and business management from Sultan Qaboos University.
