SAMI’s CHRO Abdulmalik Al Kohaji steps down

Al Kohaji joined SAMI in 2018 as the Director of HR Policies & Organizational Development and was appointed CHRO in 2020.
Abdulmalik Al Kohaji, who has been serving as the Chief Human Resources Officer at Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI) for over five years, announced his resignation from the role last week.
Al Kohaji joined SAMI in 2018 as the Director of HR Policies & Organizational Development and was appointed CHRO in 2020. Announcing his departure, he posted:
“Since 2018, I have been enjoying an honorable journey with SAMI from inception to realization, through growth and to transformation. A remarkable journey that allowed me to contribute proudly to the Kingdom's vision and its prosperity and security. From a single company to more than 12 operating companies, from 90 employees to over 7,000 employees, SAMI will continue to grow and to be one of the global pioneers in its field to best serve our great country.”
Reflecting further, he added, “As my 8-year tenure with SAMI comes to a close, I reflect on the invaluable experiences that have shaped me. I am deeply grateful for the incredible individuals I have had the honor to know, work for, and work with. From my mentor who initially inspired my journey at SAMI, to previous and current esteemed NRGC members, the distinguished colleagues in the management committee, former and current CEOs, the wider SAMI team across all functions, divisions, and affiliates, and my exceptional and greatest HR team—each person has left an indelible mark on me. I depart with a heart full of cherished memories and a profound sense of appreciation.”
Without revealing his next role, he noted, “Excited for the next chapter, I look forward to embarking on a new journey, eager to continue building meaningful connections and learning from exceptional individuals.”
Prior to joining SAMI, Al Kohaji worked with Sadara Chemical Company and Kawader Management Consulting in key roles, and also served as a board member at Al Salam Aerospace Industries.

On the academic front, Al Kohaji holds an executive program in organizational leadership from London Business School and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Prince Mohammad bin Fahd University. He also completed a board directorship certification from the GCC Board Directors Institute and holds a PHRi credential from HRCI.
SAMI has yet to announce who will assume CHRO responsibilities following Al Kohaji’s departure.
