Sunny Bhatia to step down as KIPCO Group CFO

Veteran finance leader Sunny Bhatia has held senior roles at National Bank of Bahrain, Global Investment House, and NBK Capital, where he served as Chief Financial Officer.
Kuwait Projects Company (KIPCO), a leading holding company that invests in the Middle East and North Africa region, has announced that Sunny Bhatia, Group Chief Financial Officer, will step down from his role effective March 31, citing family reasons.
Bhatia has served as Group CFO since 2022, overseeing the Group’s finance, treasury, and capital markets functions. During his tenure, he supported the execution of several high-impact strategic projects, strengthened the balance sheet, advanced proactive liability management, and drove financial oversight and value maximisation across the Group’s portfolio.
Commenting on the development, Dana Naser Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Group Chief Executive Officer of KIPCO, said the company appreciates Bhatia’s contributions.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors and the management team, I would like to thank Mr Bhatia for his dedication and contributions during his tenure at KIPCO. He played an important role in strengthening the Group’s financial position, enhancing capital discipline and supporting the execution of key strategic initiatives across the portfolio. We wish him every success in his future endeavors and, with a strong leadership team in place, we are confident that the transition will be smooth and that the Group’s strategic direction will continue as planned,” she said.
Bhatia is an industry veteran, having served in senior leadership roles at the National Bank of Bahrain for more than a decade, Global Investment House for more than 12 years, and NBK Capital for over three years, where he served as Chief Financial Officer. Earlier in his career, he worked with KPMG and Siemens.
Academically, he holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and a Cost Accountant from the Institute of Cost Accountants of India.
