Oman’s Ministry of Labour has imposed fines totalling OMR3.246 million and deported 2,944 workers following a nationwide enforcement campaign targeting violations of labour regulations.

The ministry conducted 6,707 inspection visits across Oman’s governorates as authorities stepped up efforts to enforce the Labour Law and improve compliance across the labour market.

The inspections identified 11,172 workers in violation of labour regulations. Of these cases, 4,680 were referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal action, while 2,944 workers were deported following the completion of enforcement procedures.

The enforcement campaign also resulted in 272 employment opportunities being registered under settlement decisions, according to the ministry.

Oman’s overall labour market compliance rate across its governorates stood at 69.5%, highlighting continued gaps in adherence to labour regulations despite intensified inspections.

The latest enforcement figures underline the ministry’s focus on strengthening labour market governance and ensuring that employers and workers comply with the country’s employment regulations.

The inspection drive also reflects Oman’s broader efforts to regulate the labour market, address violations and promote a more compliant and organised employment environment.

For employers operating in Oman, the enforcement action reinforces the importance of maintaining compliance with labour regulations and ensuring that employment practices meet the requirements of the Labour Law.
