Oman Labour Ministry revises eligibility rules for public-sector vacancies

Oman’s Ministry of Labour has revised the eligibility requirements for a number of vacancies announced earlier this week, including positions within the Public Prosecution.

The ministry issued the update on August 3, following an announcement by the Supreme Judicial Council on July 30 concerning available job opportunities.

Under the revised general conditions, applicants will not be eligible if they resigned from Oman’s civil, military or security government administrative units, public legal entities or government-owned companies in which the government holds a stake of 40% or more, unless at least one full year has passed since their resignation.

The ministry has also amended the educational requirements for the position of Public Prosecution Assistant, listed under job number 208260231. The vacancies are available for both men and women across Oman’s governorates.

Previously, applicants were required to hold a bachelor’s degree with a major in Sharia or Law. The revised requirement expands eligibility to include a bachelor’s degree with a major in Sharia, Law or Legal Studies.

The ministry urged citizens interested in applying for the vacancies to take the revised requirements into account when submitting their applications.

Applications can be submitted through the ministry’s SMS service, its website or the “Ma’ak” application. The deadline for applications is August 20, 2026.

The changes widen the academic eligibility for the Public Prosecution Assistant role while introducing a one-year waiting period for applicants who have previously resigned from specified government entities and government-linked companies.
