Dietmar Siersdorfer will bolster Siemens Energy's presence in Middle East and Africa regions by fostering increased collaboration of best practices among teams.

Siemens, a global automation equipment manufacturer, has announced the appointment of Dietmar Siersdorfer as the Managing Director for Siemens Energy - Africa, effective from April 1, 2024. In addition to his current position as MD for the Middle East, he will oversee teams in Africa and spearhead increased collaborations of best practices in both regions.

Dietmar, who joined Siemens in 1987, transitioned to his current position as Managing Director for Siemens Energy Middle East four years ago. He takes over responsibilities from Nadja Haakansson, who has stepped down as Senior Vice President and MD for Africa after four years of service. Nadja served in key leadership roles over the last 18 years, initially joining the company in 2005 as a Project Manager for Sweden.

Defining his vision for the new role, Dietmar commented, “With abundant natural resources, a growing population, and rising energy demand, Africa has huge potential to drive energy transition, not just across the continent but also around the world. By aligning our efforts across the Middle East and Africa, we can more effectively address the unique energy challenges they face, from enhancing energy access to advancing sustainable development. There are significant benefits of harnessing synergies and similarities between these regions to drive innovation, efficiency, and growth for Siemens Energy and our partners."

Sharing the news on LinkedIn, he posted, “I am excited to share that starting today, I am expanding my role as Managing Director at Siemens Energy to include Africa, alongside my continued leadership in the Middle East. This expansion is a strategic move, built on the solid groundwork established by Nadja Håkansson.”

Nadja also posted, “As I prepare to embark on a new chapter in my career, I look back on my time here (Siemens group) with fondness and gratitude. I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and the chance to continue making a positive impact. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone for their great collaboration, dedication, and friendship. I am confident that the team will continue to achieve great things and drive the company to even greater heights in the future.”
