Volta Data Centres appoints Jason Liggins as CEO, eyes London expansion

Volta Data Centres has appointed Jason Liggins as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking a key leadership change following the company's acquisition by Arcus Infrastructure Partners. The appointment comes as the UK-based data centre operator looks to strengthen its position in London's colocation market and expand into a multi-site platform.

According to ETDatacenters, Liggins will lead Volta's growth strategy, reinforce its presence in London and oversee the acquisition of additional sites to support the company's long-term expansion plans.

Growth strategy takes centre stage

Liggins joins Volta after serving as Chief Executive Officer of Crown Hosting, a government-focused joint venture between Ark Data Centres and the UK Government.

Speaking about his priorities, Liggins said his focus will be on accelerating Volta's growth, strengthening its position in the London market and expanding the business into a multi-site operator through strategic acquisitions.

The expansion strategy will be executed in partnership with Arcus Infrastructure Partners, which acquired Volta earlier this year.

London remains the foundation of the business

Volta currently operates a 6-megawatt (MW) carrier-neutral colocation facility in central London. The facility spans:

• 91,000 square feet (8,450 square metres)
• Supports more than 40 network carriers
• Serves customers across financial services, telecommunications, information technology and enterprise sectors
• Has been operated by Volta since 2013

The site was originally established as a Reuters facility in the 1980s before becoming part of Volta's portfolio.

Appointment follows ownership transition

The leadership change comes after a series of ownership changes over the past few years.

According to ETDatacenters:

• D9 acquired Volta in 2022.
• The business was later merged with Verne.
• It was subsequently separated following further ownership changes.
• Arcus Infrastructure Partners acquired Volta earlier in 2026.

The appointment of a new chief executive signals the beginning of a new phase under Arcus' ownership, with a stronger emphasis on business expansion and infrastructure growth.

Experienced leadership for the next phase

Liggins brings experience from both the public and private sectors through his leadership at Crown Hosting, where he worked with government-focused digital infrastructure programmes.

His appointment reflects Volta's intention to scale beyond a single-site operator while strengthening its footprint in one of Europe's most competitive data centre markets.

As demand for cloud services, AI workloads and enterprise digital infrastructure continues to rise, Volta's growth strategy under its new leadership is expected to focus on expanding capacity while building a broader presence across the UK data centre landscape.
