His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has approved a new employment plan that will create 3,000 job opportunities for Emirati citizens across government entities in the emirate during 2026.

The initiative forms part of Sharjah’s efforts to expand employment opportunities for nationals while supporting workforce development and career progression within the public sector.

Under the plan, 650 new employees will be appointed by June 18, 2026. A further 200 vacancies are currently in the final stages of recruitment, while an additional 650 positions are scheduled to be filled by July 31.

The remaining 1,500 jobs will be created between August and December, bringing the total number of government employment opportunities available to Sharjah citizens this year to 3,000.

In addition to the recruitment drive, Sheikh Sultan approved the promotion of 1,864 employees working in government entities across the emirate. The promotions will carry an annual financial impact of AED 45.5 million.

The ruler also approved the regularisation of employment status for 125 government employees who have obtained higher academic qualifications. The move is expected to cost up to AED 5 million annually and aims to recognise educational advancement while supporting career development within the public sector.

As part of broader workforce development efforts, Sheikh Sultan directed the implementation of the Sharjah Programme for Qualifying and Training Job Seekers.

The programme will target 410 Emirati job seekers between July and December 2026, equipping them with skills and training to improve their employability and readiness for the labour market. Participants will receive rewards with a total value of AED 14.76 million.

The employment package underscores Sharjah’s continued focus on creating job opportunities for citizens, investing in workforce development and supporting talent advancement across government institutions.

The initiative is expected to contribute to the emirate’s economic and social development objectives while strengthening the participation of Emirati talent in the public sector.
