The directives also include extending the Job Security Allowance payment period from six months to one year for eligible insured individuals, providing additional financial security for those facing employment transition.

As Oman marks the sixth anniversary of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s Accession Day, new Royal directives were issued today to reinforce social welfare, create more jobs, strengthen education support, and meet the essential living requirements of citizens.

In a statement issued by the Diwan of Royal Court, the directives underscore His Majesty’s continued commitment to improving citizens’ quality of life and reinforcing economic stability across the Sultanate.

A key highlight of the announcement is the approval of an accelerated employment programme for 2026, which includes 60,000 job opportunities.

Of these, 10,000 positions will be created within the civilian and military government sectors, while 50,000 opportunities will be generated across government companies and the private sector.

The move is expected to significantly support jobseekers and enhance labour market participation.

To further strengthen social stability, His Majesty directed the allocation of RO 100 million to support Oman’s Social Housing Programme for 2026 and 2027, ensuring improved access to secure housing for eligible families.

Education support was also expanded, with financial assistance extended to over 73,000 school students whose families are registered in the Family Support System. This will be implemented through a doubling of the Childhood Scheme disbursements under the Social Protection Fund.

In addition, amendments approved to several Social Protection schemes aim to directly benefit low-income families, raising the number receiving Family Income Support to more than 57,000 families, while the total number of beneficiaries across all social protection programmes is expected to reach around 1.6 million in 2026.

The directives also include extending the Job Security Allowance payment period from six months to one year for eligible insured individuals, providing additional financial security for those facing employment transition.

Further supporting economic development, RO 50 million has been allocated to governorate development projects designed to stimulate investment, create jobs, and drive sustainable local growth as part of the Eleventh Five-Year Development Plan (2026–2030).

The Royal directives reflect a comprehensive approach to social welfare and economic resilience, reinforcing Oman’s continued commitment to citizens’ well-being and national development.
