stc Kuwait appoints Abdulaziz Al-Mathkoor as CHRO
Kuwait Telecom Company (stc Kuwait) has named Abdulaziz Al-Mathkoor as the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), with effect from December 2024.
Abdulaziz took over the role and responsibilities of CHRO position in March 2024 itself. Confirming the news earlier this week, the company said, “Abdulaziz Saud Al-Mathkoor was appointed as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) of Kuwait Telecommunications Company (stc) in March 2024 after he joined the Company in August 2021 as Director - Performance Management & OD.”
The fact of the matter is that Abdulaziz takes over responsibilities from Ahmad Al-Hammad, who stepped down from the position in August this year. During this period, they both worked closely to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities.
The exiting CHRO, Ahmad who joined stc Kuwait in 2019, and was promoted to the CHRO position in 2020, and played a key role in the company's strategic initiatives. Stepping down from the role, he posted on LinkedIn, “A farewell dinner with my colleagues in stc Kuwait executive team. As I prepare to embark on a new chapter, I can’t believe it has been nearly 6 years in stc Kuwait, my journey in this wonderful adventure has come to an end. It’s not easy to put into words just how much this journey has meant to me. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside talented, passionate, and driven individuals who made every achievement possible. Together, we navigated challenges, celebrated successes, and we grew not only as a company but also as individuals. It has been an honour to contribute to the development of the company’s culture and the milestones we’ve reached in HR. I will always look back with pride on what we accomplished together. Special thanks to the HR team and Maziad Al-Harbi (former CEO of stc Kuwait) and Muataz Aldharrab (current CEO of stc Kuwait). To the entire stc Kuwait family, thank you for everything!”
Ahmad is yet to announce his next career move.
Abdulaziz also announced on LinkedIn, “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Chief Human Resources Officer at stc Kuwait!”
In his new role, Abdulaziz brings over 12 years of HR leadership experience. Having joined stc Kuwait in 2021, he held key roles including General Manager of Performance Management & OD and General Manager of Rewards & Organisation Effectiveness. Previously, he worked with Kuwait Finance House in key roles overseeing performance management, compensation, corporate and HR strategy. He played a pivotal role in driving strategic initiatives, financial as well as non-financial efforts for KFH, while also implementing best HR practices to build a high-performance culture.

On the academic front, Abdulaziz holds an MBA and a bachelor's degree in finance and financial institutions from Kuwait University. He also holds key certifications including Performance Management & Performance Appraisal from Informa Connect Middle East, Training & Coaching from Canada Global Centre, and Human Resource Learning Partnership from the RBL Group.
