Goldman Sachs is strengthening its presence in the Middle East with the opening of a new office in Kuwait, marking a significant milestone in its five-decade partnership with the nation.
As part of the expansion, the global investment bank has appointed Mohammad Almatrouk as Managing Director to lead the new office, pending regulatory approval.
The firm has also recently named Fahad Alebrahim as Managing Director in its Private Wealth Management division. The move reinforces Goldman Sachs’ long-standing collaboration with Kuwait across investment banking, capital markets, and asset management.
A key element of this partnership has been a Goldman Sachs–led professional training program focused on developing local talent across the Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA), the Public Institution for Social Security (PIFSS), and the Kuwait Fund.
David Solomon, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Goldman Sachs commented, “Kuwait is driving forward a rapid transformation to deliver economic growth and opportunities for its citizens. We look forward to deepening our longstanding partnership with Kuwait as we establish this office to grow our capabilities across the Middle East and better serve our clients.”

These efforts directly support our economic diversification strategy and reflect our broader vision for sustainable growth and global integration, in line with Kuwait Vision 2035.”
The global investment bank is also seeing key leadership changes aligned with its Middle Eastern private credit efforts, as it continues to scale its Investment Banking, Asset Management, and Private Wealth Management capabilities.
