Qatar plans to strengthen AI and leadership skills, enhance workplace readiness

By investing in workforce training and leadership development, the programme aims to create a more agile, future-ready government workforce capable of delivering efficient and high-quality public services.
The Civil Service and Government Development Bureau is stepping up efforts to strengthen public sector capabilities through a new series of specialised workshops focused on artificial intelligence (AI), operational excellence, leadership transformation, and project management.
In a statement shared on X, the Bureau announced that the Public Administration Institute is organising the workshops in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar as part of broader initiatives aimed at reinforcing institutional performance and supporting sustainable development across Qatar’s government sector.
The initiative reflects the Bureau’s ongoing commitment to developing national talent and preparing government work environments for the changing demands of modern governance and institutional transformation. The workshops are expected to equip participants with practical knowledge and internationally informed approaches to improve the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of public sector performance.
According to the statement, “The workshops aim to develop the skills of government employees in areas of improving institutional performance, leading change, artificial intelligence, and enhancing operational efficiency and project management.”
The Bureau noted that the programme will focus heavily on operational excellence and the adoption of modern workplace practices within government institutions, enabling employees to respond more effectively to rapid technological and administrative shifts. The workshops are also designed to strengthen institutional readiness and foster innovation across public sector operations.
Key themes in the workshop series include improving government processes to achieve operational excellence, internal auditing and the expanding role of AI, agile project management tailored for the government sector, and leadership strategies that support organisational transformation from vision to implementation.
The collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar is expected to bring strong academic and practical expertise to the programme. Recognised globally for its strengths in technology, innovation, and management education, the university will contribute international perspectives and advanced methodologies to help enhance public administration capabilities in Qatar.
The Bureau emphasised that the initiative aligns closely with national priorities centred on institutional modernisation and human capital development. By investing in workforce training and leadership development, the programme aims to create a more agile, future-ready government workforce capable of delivering efficient and high-quality public services.
“These workshops come in support of efforts to develop national competencies and enhance the readiness of work environments to keep pace with the requirements of sustainable institutional development,” the Bureau added.
The initiative also highlights the increasing importance of collaboration between government institutions and academic organisations in driving professional development and institutional innovation. As Qatar continues to modernise public administration and strengthen institutional resilience, programmes such as these are expected to play an important role in building workforce capabilities and promoting a culture of continuous improvement across the public sector.
