Gulf Air Group appoints Martin Gauss as new CEO; Dr. Jeffrey Goh steps down

Martin Gauss is a seasoned executive with over 30 years of industry leadership experience, gained through his leadership roles at premier airlines, including airBaltic.

Gulf Air Group, the flag carrier of Bahrain, has appointed Martin Gauss as Chief Executive Officer, effective November 2025.

“The Chairman of Gulf Air Group, Mr. Khalid Taqi, announced the appointment of Martin Gauss as CEO of Gulf Air, effective November 4, 2025, and confirmed the departure of Dr. Jeffrey Goh from his role as Group CEO,” the group stated. 

Gauss also posted, “I am truly honored to share that I will be joining Gulf Air Air as Chief Executive Officer on November 4, 2025. With pride and gratitude, I look forward to leading an airline with over 75 years of history as the first carrier in the Gulf, building on this proud legacy together with the teams and partners, and shaping a strong future for the Kingdom of Bahrain’s national carrier. I will bring my unique leadership style and aim to inspire all our stakeholders, employees, customers, and partners, to join forces for Gulf Air’s success.” 

Welcoming the new CEO, Chairman Taqi highlighted Gauss’s achievements in airline leadership and his extensive experience in transformation programs, fleet modernization, and sustainable growth. He also extended his sincere appreciation to Dr. Goh, recognizing his contributions in leading the group, advancing its development, and improving operational efficiency during his tenure. 


With more than three decades of leadership experience, Dr. Goh joined the group in 2023. Prior to that, he served as CEO of Star Alliance and as Senior Legal Counsel at the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The incoming CEO, Gauss, also brings over 30 years of industry leadership experience. He most recently served as CEO of airBaltic for nearly 14 years and, before that, held senior executive roles at Malév Hungarian Airlines, Cirrus Airlines, and Deutsche BA. 

“This leadership transition underscores Gulf Air Group’s commitment to advancing operations, improving efficiency, and ensuring sustainable growth, empowering Bahrain’s national carrier to meet and exceed global standards,” the company added.
