
PIF appoints Maram Al Johani as Acting Chief of Staff as Saad Alkroud takes a new role
The Public Investment Fund (PIF) has appointed Maram Al Johani as the Acting Chief of Staff, and also named her as Secretary General to the PIF Board of Directors, effective immediately.
This move follows the appointment of Saad Alkroud as Head of the Local Real Estate Investment Division at PIF. He had been serving as Chief of Staff since 2021. His appointment was announced after Eng. Aiman AlMudaifer stepped in as the new CEO and Managing Director of NEOM.
Maram, who has been with PIF for over eight years, most recently served as Senior Director – Head of the Data and Committees Governance and Advisory Department, and Secretary of the Board Investment Committee.
Previously, she was Director – Head of the Reporting and Committees Management Department and Secretary of the Board Risk Committee. She brings more than 12 years of experience to her new role. Other than PIF, she also serves as the Member of Ethics and ESG Committee for El Seif Engineering Contracting. She began her career with PwC Saudi Arabia in 2012.
Welcoming Maram in her new role, PIF shared: “Al Johani, as Acting Chief of Staff and as Secretary General to the PIF Board of Directors, will lead organisation-wide strategic planning, data and committees governance, and the project management office. In addition, she will oversee portfolio company affairs and manage international and local stakeholders.
Al Johani joined PIF in 2017 after working for PricewaterhouseCoopers. She brings extensive experience to both roles, having served as PIF’s Head of Data and Committees Governance and Advisory Department since 2021."
On the academic front, She holds an MBA in finance from Prince Sultan University, a leadership development program from Harvard Business School, and a bachelor degree from King Saud University.
PIF also shared a brief about Saad, who’s stepping into a new role: “In his new role, Alkroud will be responsible for developing PIF’s local real estate and infrastructure investment portfolio, which includes the giga-projects and several other strategic developments.”
Saad who joined PIF in 2016 as Head of Stakeholder Management, was appointed Chief of Staff in 2021. A year later, he was also assign responsibilities as Secretary General to the PIF Board of Directors, overseeing corporate strategy and business planning, the PIF Project Management Office—including the establishment of new companies—as well as the affairs of PIF’s portfolio companies, stakeholders, and committees. He also serves on the boards of several PIF companies.

On the academic front, he holds a Master’s degree in Management and Leadership from University of La Verne, and a bachelor’s degree in finance from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals.
