Saudi Chemical Co. CEO Thamer AlMuhid resigns; Abdullah Alznaedi takes over as Acting CEO
Saudi Chemical Company has announced the resignation of its Group Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Thamer AlMuhid, and the appointment of Eng. Abdullah Abdulaziz Alznaedi as the new Acting CEO, effective February 1, 2025.
Announcing the leadership change in its exchange filing on Tadawul, the company explained that AlMuhid’s resignation was initiated in November last year. It stated, “With reference to the resignation of its Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Thamer AlMuhid, the company announces that, based on a board resolution issued on 28-01-2025 corresponding to 28-07-1446, the effective date of his resignation has been approved and adjusted to 31-01-2025 corresponding to 01-08-1446, instead of the previous date of 28-02-2025 corresponding to 29-08-1446, based on his request.”
Eng. AlMuhid, who joined the company in 2020, continued in the role until his successor was finalised. The company has not specified any reason for his resignation and stated that the decision was made at his request. The company board extended wishes to him saying, “..thanks and appreciation to Eng. Thamer AlMuhid for his efforts during the period he spent serving the Company wishing him continued success and achievements.” Eng. AlMuhid will continue to serve the company as a board member.
In the November 2024 exchange filing, the company also informed, “The company will announce any updates regarding the appointment of a new or delegated CEO in due course.”
And today, announcing Eng. Alznaedi as the delegated CEO, the company stated, “Saudi Chemical Company Holding announces the decision of its Board of Directors, dated 28/01/2025 corresponding to 28/07/1446, to assign Eng. Abdullah Abdulaziz Alznaedi as the Acting CEO of the company, effective 01/02/2025 corresponding to 02/08/1446.”
Eng. Alznaedi joined the company in 2021 and served as the CEO of the Explosives Sector. He brings over 30 years of leadership experience to his new role. Prior to joining the chemicals manufacturer, he worked with SABIC for nearly 25 years in key roles, including CEO of SABIC Africa, Global Business Director, Technology Specialist, and Project Engineer in Saudi Arabia. He began his career with Saudi Pharmaceutical Industries & Medical Appliances Corporation as a Production Engineer.

On the academic front, Alznaedi holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals and an Executive MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management, USA.
