The collaboration comes as Saudi Arabia seeks to strengthen its domestic talent pipeline to support the expansion of renewable energy and other strategic industries.

India's leading engineering and construction conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Onaizah Colleges to develop local talent for Saudi Arabia’s renewable energy sector, supporting the kingdom’s energy transition and Vision 2030 workforce development goals.

The agreement was signed by L&T’s Saudi unit, L&T Renewables KSA, on the sidelines of the 25th WPC Energy Congress in Riyadh. It establishes a framework for collaboration in practical training, research and workforce development.

Under the partnership, students will have opportunities to participate in internships, co-operative training and renewable energy projects. The two organisations will also explore employment pathways at L&T for qualified graduates.

Other areas of collaboration include workshops, guest lectures, joint research and professional development programmes, aimed at aligning academic learning with the skills required by the renewable energy industry.

A. Ravindran, senior vice president and head of L&T Renewables, signed the MoU with Dr Abdullah Saleh Alshetaiwi, chairman of Onaizah Colleges. Dr Abdullah Mohammad Alnajim, dean of Onaizah College of Engineering and Information Technology, and other senior L&T Renewables officials were also present.

“Saudi Arabia’s renewable energy expansion requires professionals with practical, industry-relevant skills. Through this partnership, we aim to give students valuable exposure to real-world projects and help prepare them for careers in the sector,” Ravindran said.

By connecting educational institutions with industry, the partnership aims to build local expertise and prepare graduates for emerging employment opportunities.

The initiative aligns with the kingdom’s Vision 2030 agenda, which emphasises workforce development, skills building and greater participation of Saudi nationals in the economy.
