Qatar’s Ministry of Labour has partnered with Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) to organise an open recruitment day aimed at connecting Qatari graduates and jobseekers with employment opportunities in the banking sector, as the country continues efforts to increase national participation in private-sector jobs.

The event attracted a large number of Qatari candidates and forms part of the Ministry’s efforts to implement the Private-Sector Jobs Nationalisation Law and the National Strategy for an Effective and Highly Productive Workforce 2024–2030.

The national strategy aims to develop a pool of qualified Qatari talent and strengthen its competitiveness in line with labour market needs.

Mohammed Jumaa Al Kawwari, Assistant Director of the National Manpower Recruitment Department at the Ministry of Labour, said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to creating quality employment opportunities for national talent and expanding their representation in banking and other private-sector industries.

He said recruitment events provide a direct channel for connecting graduates and jobseekers with employers, helping candidates understand labour market requirements and career development pathways.

The Ministry is also working to strengthen engagement between private-sector employers and Qatari university students, recent graduates and children of Qatari women to identify workforce requirements and align educational outcomes with the skills and specialisations employers need.

Al Kawwari emphasised that collaboration with private-sector institutions is essential to achieving nationalisation objectives. Attracting Qatari talent and providing suitable working environments to develop their capabilities are key to building a qualified workforce that can contribute to the country’s development.

Khalefa Al Mesalam, Head of Human Capital Group at QIB, welcomed the strong turnout of Qatari candidates, highlighting the bank’s collaboration with the Ministry as an opportunity to engage directly with national talent and offer clearer pathways for professional development.

“We remain committed to developing the next generation of banking professionals and supporting the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030,” Al Mesalam said.

The initiative supports Qatar’s broader efforts to increase national employment in the private sector, strengthen the domestic talent pipeline and advance the objectives of its nationalisation plan.
