Bank Nizwa appoints Tariq Atiq as new Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operations Officer

Atiq brings over 25 years of strategic leadership experience across the banking industry, having led digital and operational transformations at the National Bank of Oman and Bank Muscat.
Bank Nizwa, Oman’s leading Islamic bank, has appointed Tariq bin Atiq as Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operations Officer, effective immediately.
The bank announced, “Bank Nizwa welcomes Tariq bin Atiq as Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operations Officer, and extends its best wishes for his continued success and prosperity. We look forward to his leadership in driving sustained progress, advancing our business development efforts, and further strengthening the bank’s leading position in the Islamic banking sector.”
“This strategic appointment underscores the bank’s vision to attract and empower promising national talent, strengthen the Islamic banking ecosystem, and contribute meaningfully to the growth and advancement of the Islamic finance industry in the Sultanate,” it added.
In his new role, Atiq brings over 25 years of strategic leadership experience across the banking industry, having led digital and operational transformations at major financial institutions, including the National Bank of Oman and Bank Muscat.
He will work closely with Khaled Al Kayed, the Chief Executive Officer, along with other CXOs on the board.

On the academic front, Atiq holds a BSc in Business Administration from Arkansas State University and an Executive MBA in Leading Digital Transformation from HEC Paris. He has also completed advanced executive leadership and management programmes at Harvard Business School and INSEAD.
