Oman declares Eid Al-Fitr holidays until March 23

The Labour Ministry confirmed that the holiday will start from Thursday, March 19, 2026, covering employees of the State Administrative Apparatus, other legal entities, and workers in private sector establishments across the Sultanate.
The Ministry of Labour, Oman has announced the official Eid Al-Fitr holiday schedule, granting employees across the public and private sectors a five-day break to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Labour Ministry confirmed that the holiday will run from Thursday, March 19, 2026, to Monday, March 23, 2026, covering employees of the State Administrative Apparatus, other legal entities, and workers in private sector establishments across the Sultanate.
In its announcement, the ministry stated, “On the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr for the year 1447 AH, it has been decided that the holiday for employees of the State Administrative Apparatus units, other legal entities, and workers in private sector establishments will be from Thursday, March 19, 2026, until Monday, March 23, 2026. Official work will resume on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.”

Ahead of the holiday, the ministry had also urged private sector employers to expedite the payment of March salaries to workers. The directive, issued in line with Royal Decree No. 53/2023, requires companies to ensure that employees receive their salaries no later than Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
According to the ministry, the early salary payment initiative is intended to support workers and their families as they prepare for Eid Al-Fitr, allowing them to meet financial commitments and celebrate the occasion with greater financial stability.
The announcement comes as communities across Oman prepare for the festivities marking the end of Eid al-Fitr, one of the most significant celebrations in the Islamic calendar.
