In his new role, Mohannad AlKalash will spearhead Zoom's growth and expansion, as well as diversity and inclusion efforts for local talent across the METAP regions.

Zoom Video Communications has announced the appointment of Mohannad AlKalash as the new Managing Director for the Middle East, Turkey, Africa, and Pakistan, effective immediately.

In his new role, AlKalash brings over two decades of leadership expertise across cybersecurity and SaaS technology. He will be leading the company's expansion efforts, nurturing local talent across these regions. Additionally, he will spearhead Zoom's efforts to promote diversity and inclusion by implementing clear recruitment policies, partnering with local universities, and initiating programs that empower women. He strives to create a workforce that mirrors the diversity and talent of the Kingdom.

In his previous roles, AlKalash worked with Cisco, VirtuPort, and Oracle. He also founded ChocolatORYX and Cyberx World and seasonally serves on the advisory board of Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University, Prince Sultan University, and The University of Manchester. Academically, he holds an MBA from The University of Manchester, a bachelor's degree in Computer Network Systems from Applied Science University, and certifications in Neuro Linguistic Programming, IT, Adobe Photoshop, etc.

Welcoming AlKalash to the leadership role, Frederik Maris, Head of EMEA at Zoom, said, “As we deepen our commitment to the METAP markets with a new regional office in Saudi Arabia, we are thrilled to welcome Mohannad, who brings more than 20 years of experience in the digital space including UCaaS, cybersecurity, ERP, and cloud services for world-class digital applications. With a focus on building our presence, forging strategic partnerships, and bringing customer-centric solutions to market, we are getting ready to deliver even more exceptional experiences that resonate with businesses in the region.”

AlKalash added, “I am tremendously excited to join Zoom at this juncture of growth and innovation within the company, but also in Saudi Arabia and the METAP region. Our strategic priorities align with the transformations of countries in this region, including Saudi Vision 2030, with a focus on leveraging AI and machine learning to enhance communication efficiency and security while offering scalable UCaaS solutions suitable for businesses of all sizes. We will continue to stay ahead of technological advancements and customer expectations and develop new features that cater to the evolving needs of the Saudi and METAP markets. Importantly, we are also committed to hiring from the local workforce, supporting the participation of Saudis in the private sector while securing world-class talent to help us realise our goals.”
