Authorities in the Sultanate of Oman have announced remote working for government entities and private sector establishments on Wednesday, 25 March 2026, following heavy rainfall warnings and flash flood risks across several governorates.

The decision was issued in light of weather alerts from the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Center and in accordance with directives from the National Committee for Emergency Management.

According to the official announcement, remote working will be implemented for units of the Civil Administrative Apparatus of the State and private sector establishments in the governorates of Muscat, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Musandam, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah, Al Dakhiliyah, and North Al Sharqiyah.

In a related update, authorities also confirmed that due to flowing valleys and flash flood risks, remote work will be applied across all governorates except Al Wusta, Dhofar, and South Al Sharqiyah.

The move is part of precautionary measures taken by the government to ensure public safety amid adverse weather conditions affecting several parts of the country.

Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious, avoid crossing valleys, and follow official safety instructions during the weather conditions.

The temporary shift to remote work reflects Oman’s continued use of flexible work arrangements during emergencies to maintain business continuity while ensuring the safety of employees.
