In his new role, Assaf brings a wealth of HR leadership and advisory experience and will be spearheading Ma'aden's growth strategy and human capital function.

Ma'aden, Saudi Arabia’s leading mining company, has appointed Assaf AlQuraishi as the Chief Human Resources Officer, effective May 2024.

In his new role, Assaf brings around 25 years of HR leadership experience across manufacturing, professional services, and HR advisory and consulting sectors. He also serves as an advisor and council member for the Human Capital Advisory Council - UAE and as an Independent Advisor to the Nomination & Remuneration Committee for Nahdi Medical Co. He will be relocating to Riyadh to lead and oversee the company's growth and transformation strategy and human capital function, bolstering its position in Saudi's mining sector.

Most recently, Assaf worked with The Twenty Percent, a leadership development consultancy, as Managing Director & Co-Founder. Before that, he worked with Unilever in UAE for around two decades in several leadership roles, including Vice President of Human Resources for North Africa, the Middle East, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus.

Academically, he graduated from Georgetown University McDonough School of Business and completed a CHRO programme in Human Resources Development & Business Strategy from Wharton Executive Education. His core competencies include leadership development and assessments, coaching, performance management, team effectiveness, people analytics, organisational culture, executive remuneration, crisis management, strategic HR, organisational leadership, culture change, talent management, and HR transformation.

Announcing his new role on LinkedIn, Assaf posted, “Excited to share that I'm starting a new leadership challenge as the Chief Human Resources Officer at Ma'aden, based out of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Ma'aden is one of the fastest-growing natural resources companies in the world, and I'm thrilled to lead the human capital function through the company's current transformation programme and next phase of exponential growth. As Ma'aden works to transform the mining sector in the Kingdom, we're strengthening our position as the third pillar of the Saudi economy.”
