HR plays a significant role in ensuring businesses can identify, recruit, engage, and retain the right people amidst rapid change. As the importance of having the appropriate individuals in key positions continues to rise, HR has evolved into a crucial business driver. However, given the ongoing disruptions and shifting employee preferences, how can HR effectively deliver value to businesses and shareholders?

Dave Ulrich, Professor at the University of Michigan and Partner at RBL Group, addressed this challenge during the closing mega keynote at People Matters TechHR Singapore. He shared insights and experiences that he believes HR professionals should consider.

Dave emphasised that the unpredictability and disruptions in today's corporate landscape shape the environment, or "kingdom," in which businesses operate. How HR responds and the content it produces to navigate this environment are paramount. According to Dave, content creation is HR's responsibility, and our reactions are contingent upon the context, which he refers to as the "kingdom content" - the king or queen. "Think creatively about how to create the right content given the context," explained Dave.
