The Ministry of Tourism of Saudi Arabia has appointed Fawaz bin Abdullah Al-Omran as the Deputy Minister, Shared Services & General Supervisor of HR, with immediate effect. 

Sharing the news on LinkedIn, Fawaz posted, “I am starting a new position as Deputy Minister, Shared Services & General Supervisor of HR at the Ministry of Tourism of Saudi Arabia!”

In his new role, Fawaz brings around two decades of HR leadership experience in shared services, organisational transformation, human capital development, and administrative strategies. Currently, he also serves as a key board member of Maharah Human Resources, Eastern Province Cement Company, Arabian Yemen Cement Co., and MDD. 

Before this appointment, Fawaz served the Social Development Bank as the Vice President of Shared Services for over five years. In his previous roles, he worked with KPMG Saudi Arabia as the Head of People, Takamol Holding as the Senior Director of HR, Rawafed as the founder & CEO, Mercer as the Associate Consultant,  Al Rajhi Bank as the Manager of Awareness and Communications, and Alinma Bank as the Manager - HR & Program Management Office. He began his HR career with Saudi Hollandi Bank, and later served Arab National Bank as well. 

Throughout his career, Fawaz led transformative projects in the HR sector including spearheading the Human Capital Transformation Project at the Social Development Bank. He oversaw organisational restructuring and the development of recruitment and training strategies, improving operational efficiency and achieving the bank’s strategic goals. He also played a key role in designing and developing a comprehensive digital performance tracking system, facilitating real-time evaluations, enhancing organisational collaboration, and aligning performance with the institution's strategic objectives.

On the academic front, Fawaz holds a MBA in Human Resource Management from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Arab Open University, and a Diploma in Banking Operations from the Institute of Public Administration. He also holds key certifications in digital business transformation from IMD, Organisational Transformation from London Business School, Leading Professional Service Firms from Harvard Business School, Licensed Management Consultant from Ministry of Commerce, and Certified Compliance Officer from American Academy of Financial Management.
