OQ names Zahir Al Mahruqi as Head of People & Culture for Polymer Marketing - Global
OQ, a leading oil and gas investment firm, has appointed Zahir Al Mahruqi as the Head of People & Culture for OQ Polymer Marketing across Oman, China, Singapore, India, Turkey, and Dubai, effective October 2024.
Zahir announced his new role on LinkedIn, stating, “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Head of People & Culture- OQ Polymer Marketing (Oman, China, Singapore, India, Turkey, and Dubai) at OQ!”
Zahir joined OQ in 2009 and has held several key roles over the last 15 years, including Manager of People and Culture and Talent Acquisition Manager, where he spearheaded key business initiatives to attract competitive talent and foster a thriving work environment. Before joining OQ, he served as an Accountant at the Ministry of Manpower for over five years.
On the academic front, Zahir holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Sultan Qaboos University and has completed a course in HR from the Institute of Leadership and Management. He is also a certified CIPD professional encompassing people practise, people management, as well as learning and development. His core competencies include recruitment, payroll management, team management, employee relations, HR policies, compensation and benefits, DEI, and strategic HR.

Zahir gained global exposure at OQ a year ago when he was promoted to HR Manager and began working with regional heads of OQ Polymer Marketing’s global offices. In his current role, overseeing people and culture across locations including China, Singapore, India, Turkey, and Dubai, Zahir will work closely with Ali Al Lawati, recently appointed as Chief Executive of People, Technology, and Culture, bringing over two decades of HR excellence.
